On July 15, the official WeChat account of the ‘Cyberspace Administration of China’ announced that the cyberspace regulatory authority, in conjunction with relevant departments, has been systematically carrying out record filings for generative AI services in accordance with the ‘Interim Measures for the Administration of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services.’ Seven new mobile-side generative AI services have been included in the record filings, namely Apple Intelligence, Huawei’s Xiaoyi AI Large Model, OPPO AndesGPT, vivo’s BlueLM Large Model, Xiaomi’s HyperMind AI, Samsung’s Galaxy AI, and Nubia’s Doubao Mobile Large Model.
Among these, the record filing of Apple Intelligence indicates that the AI capabilities of Apple devices in the Chinese domestic market are poised for activation. Integrated into iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices, it operates through a synergy between on-device and cloud-based models. Apple has adopted a ‘dual-track’ strategy for the deployment of AI functions in the Chinese market. Specifically, Alibaba’s QianWen will be integrated into Apple Intelligence, while Baidu will collaborate on enhancing Siri’s voice assistant and visual intelligence capabilities.
