On July 15th, startup Emergent, which focuses on helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) build applications using artificial intelligence, successfully raised $130 million in its latest funding round, joining the ranks of a few AI startups in India valued at unicorn status. Emergent announced on Wednesday that the funding round was led by Creaegis, with the company reaching a valuation of $1.5 billion. Claypond and Sentinel Global co-led the round, with participation from Khosla Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator. According to Emergent, over 12 million AI applications have been developed on its platform.
