Anthropic announced that it will extend the access deadline for its flagship Claude Fable5 model under paid subscription plans from July 12th to July 19th. Meanwhile, the weekly rate cap for Claude Code will remain 50% higher than the regular rate until the same date. During the extension period, usage of Fable5 will count as half of the weekly subscription limit at no additional cost. This move aims to address competitive pressure from the full release of OpenAI's GPT-5.6 and retain developers. Additionally, Fable5 was previously suspended by the government for 19 days due to safety and compliance issues, and Anthropic is attempting to repair damaged brand trust through this initiative. Currently, Anthropic has not provided a specific timeline for restoring Fable5 to standard subscription functionality. If a long-term solution is not offered before July 19th, some developers may switch to competing alternatives.
