On June 24, Bloomberg reported that SoftBank Group's founder, Sun Zhengyi, announced at a shareholders' meeting his intention to continue at the helm of SoftBank for the next ten years or potentially even longer. This decision marks a significant shift from his earlier plan to retire in his 60s. Now at 68, Sun expressed his fervent desire to drive the widespread implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and steer SoftBank towards becoming a globally preeminent AI-powered robotics enterprise. Presently, SoftBank boasts a nearly 90% stake in ARM, has pledged an investment of approximately $65 billion in OpenAI, and has reached an agreement to acquire ABB's robotics division for around $5.4 billion.
