On June 22 (local time), AI chip startup Groq announced the completion of a new $650 million funding round, led by Disruptive and Infinitum, with participation from some existing investors. The funds will be used to upgrade data center infrastructure, including the deployment of NVIDIA LPX systems, with the goal of expanding total installed capacity to 200 megawatts by the end of 2027. In terms of management team, new executives have been introduced: Alan Lessin, former head of data centers at xAI (now SpaceX AI) and Meta, has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer, while Sinclair Schuler and Rakesh Malhotra will assume the roles of Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer, respectively, starting in July.
