On Monday, AI chip startup Groq revealed that it had successfully closed a fresh funding round, amassing a substantial sum of $650 million. This round was jointly spearheaded by Disruptive and Infinitum. Notably, Groq had earlier inked a licensing pact with NVIDIA, valued at a staggering $20 billion, for its LPU inference technology. As part of this deal, certain team members from Groq also transitioned to NVIDIA. Moving forward, Groq is set to pivot towards becoming a provider of AI inference cloud services. It intends to harness the newly acquired funds to bolster its computational capabilities, with the ambitious goal of attaining 200MW of computing resources by the close of 2027.
