On June 18th, a netizen posed a question on social media: When will Chinese large-scale models attain the same level as Anthropic's Fable? Notably, Zhipu's GLM-5.2 has already significantly bridged the gap. In response, Tesla CEO Elon Musk remarked that such parity might not be achieved until the first quarter of 2027. Some insiders within the AI industry consider Musk's prediction to be relatively cautious, proposing that the timeframe for Chinese models to match the capabilities of their U.S. counterparts could be even shorter than seven months. Earlier, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis also commented that Chinese AI models might be 'just a few months behind' in terms of catching up with their overseas equivalents in capability.
