Due to the influence of the Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple has declared that Siri AI will not debut in the European market alongside system updates like iOS 27 and macOS 27. Consequently, EU users will, for the time being, be unable to utilize the new Siri AI features. These include a dedicated app for reviewing conversations and enhanced visual intelligence capabilities. Apple explained that Siri AI utilizes on-device processing and private cloud computing technologies to minimize the exposure of user data. Nevertheless, EU regulators' interpretation of the DMA mandates Apple to permit any virtual assistant to directly access users' private data and control other apps without implementing necessary protective measures. Apple put forward an intermediate solution, which involved trusted system agents and an 18-month phased rollout plan. However, this proposal was rejected by the European Commission. Apple expressed its disappointment that EU users will not have simultaneous access to Siri AI and hopes to eventually introduce the feature to the EU market, while maintaining ongoing communication with regulatory authorities.
