On June 4, 2026, the collaborative research endeavors of the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI) and Tsinghua University were showcased in the prestigious international journal, Science. This groundbreaking study uncovered that the reactivation of memories during sleep plays a pivotal role in modulating sleep dynamics, thereby furnishing fresh experimental evidence to deepen our comprehension of the reciprocal interplay between memory and sleep. The brain science multimodal foundation model, Brainμ, developed by BAAI, furnished indispensable technological support for pivotal facets of the research. This encompassed the analysis of multimodal data pertaining to memory and sleep, the validation of scientists' hypotheses, and the recognition of sleep states, thereby underscoring the immense potential of AI in advancing fundamental neuroscience research.
