Web service provider Cloudflare has been continuously monitoring the proportion of global internet bot traffic to human traffic since 2025. The company originally predicted that bot traffic would surpass human traffic by 2027, but the rapid proliferation of AI agents has accelerated this process. According to data released by Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince on June 5, 2026, bot traffic now accounts for 57.5% of global website HTTP requests, surpassing human traffic at 42.5% for the first time. This shift occurred nearly six months earlier than originally predicted, primarily due to a surge in requests from AI agents (such as shopping assistants, price comparison tools, and customer service interaction systems). However, this data measures request volume rather than user engagement, with real human users still dominating high-engagement behaviors like video viewing and information stream browsing.
