Meta announced in an internal memo on Tuesday that it would scale back its plan to collect data on employees' mouse movements, keystrokes, and other operations for AI training, following strong opposition from employees over the past few weeks. The memo, written by Stefan Kasriel, vice president of Meta's AI model-building division 'Supersmart Lab,' mentioned that new control features would allow employees to pause data collection for up to 30 minutes at a time and apply for exemptions. Kasriel also stated that after employees reported that the software consumed large amounts of data, leading to a surge in home network traffic, the development team had taken several optimization measures to reduce the impact on computer battery life.
