On Tuesday local time, OpenAI introduced a set of new features for its agent-based tool, Codex, aimed at expanding its application scope in office settings. The update includes support for background operation on Mac computers, integrated browser preview, access to the image generation model gpt-image-1.5, the addition of 90 new plugins, and support for scheduled automation tasks. Currently, Codex has 4 million weekly active users, with application scenarios extending far beyond software engineering to cover information synthesis, document drafting, research automation, workflow organization, and communication and collaboration. Additionally, OpenAI released an internal report on the use of Codex in knowledge-based work, further highlighting its broad application potential.
