On May 21, the latest data insight report released by research institution Epoch AI revealed that the proportion of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) in the component costs of AI chips continues to rise, increasing from 52% in the first quarter of 2024 to 63% in the fourth quarter of 2025, approaching two-thirds of the total cost. This estimate is based on production volume-weighted average data from major AI chip designers such as NVIDIA, AMD, Google, and Amazon.
