According to Germany's "Handelsblatt" citing sources from the European Commission, the EU is planning to impose fines of up to hundreds of millions of euros on Google, owned by Alphabet, as part of an antitrust investigation. The decision is nearing completion and is expected to be officially announced before the summer recess, marking the highest-amount fine issued by the EU under the new Digital Markets Act (DMA). The investigation, launched in March 2025, focuses on Google's practice of favoring its own services in search results.
