Microsoft is gradually revoking access to Claude Code for thousands of internal developers, instead focusing on its own GitHub Copilot CLI. Microsoft executive Rajesh Jha stated that this move aims to achieve product integration and consider financial factors. As June 30 marks the end of Microsoft's fiscal year, revoking access helps reduce operational costs. Meanwhile, Microsoft believes that Copilot CLI can be more deeply customized to meet the company's internal needs. Although Claude Code once helped non-programmers complete prototype development, Microsoft has required engineering teams to complete workflow migration by the end of June and increase investment in Copilot CLI to support its integration of multiple models.
