On May 13, the National Business Daily reported that Zhang Qizhi, who was at the helm of CapCut—a popular video-editing tool developed by ByteDance—has officially resigned to embark on an entrepreneurial journey. Data from Tianyancha reveals that Zhang Qizhi has smoothly transitioned out of his previous role and has successfully registered a new company, Shenzhen Imagine Landing Technology Co., Ltd., in Shenzhen on April 17. The new venture boasts a registered capital of 1 million yuan, with Zhang Qizhi holding a 100% stake and serving concurrently as its legal representative, shareholder, and director.

Prior to this, Zhang Qizhi assumed the roles of director and manager at FaceU Technologies (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. in December 2025. However, he relinquished these positions on March 26 of this year, with Du Wen stepping in to take over the reins. As of the time of writing, ByteDance has not issued any official statement regarding this development.
