According to insiders and Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple plans to allow users to select third-party AI models for Apple Intelligence in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, which are set to be released in autumn 2026, rather than being limited solely to ChatGPT. After installing compatible AI applications, users can set them as their preferred models in the system settings for tasks such as text generation and editing, as well as image generation and modification. Apple will open up third-party AI interfaces for Siri, enabling mainstream AI models like Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude to be integrated. Apple has already conducted internal integration testing with Google and Anthropic and will establish a dedicated section in the App Store to showcase compatible third-party AI applications.
