OpenAI and Anthropic are joining forces with globally renowned financial institutions, in a bid to gain a competitive edge in advancing the practical use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. OpenAI has secured over US$4 billion in funding from 19 investors to launch a new joint venture, dubbed 'The Deployment Company.' This venture boasts a valuation of US$10 billion (excluding the raised funds), with OpenAI maintaining a majority stake and control. It will collaborate with over 2,000 portfolio companies and clients to jointly foster the adoption of AI technologies across enterprises.
Almost at the same time, Anthropic also unveiled its partnership with Blackstone and other entities to establish a similar venture. Presently, the role of 'frontier deployment engineer' is gaining prominence, and AI firms are actively seeking such professionals to propel the practical application of AI technologies and attain profitability.
Both OpenAI and Anthropic have set their sights on going public, with plans to complete their initial public offerings (IPOs) as early as this year. Nevertheless, the market is fraught with risks, and investors are advised to proceed with caution.
