OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman revealed in court that his financial relationship with CEO Sam Altman is closer than previously known. Brockman's stake in OpenAI is valued at nearly $30 billion, and he also holds shares in two startups invested by Altman as well as a portion of Altman's family fund. Previously, Elon Musk sued the company on grounds such as its improper transition into a for-profit enterprise, demanding the removal of Altman and Brockman from their leadership positions and seeking $150 billion in damages. Brockman stated that he had not discussed compensation directly with Musk. In 2017, Altman gifted him $10 million worth of shares from his family office. Additionally, Brockman holds stakes in AI chip startup Cerebras and fusion startup Helion Energy. OpenAI responded by stating that Musk filed the lawsuit out of a desire for control and dissatisfaction with the company's success, while attempting to support his own AI company. The outcome of this lawsuit could have a significant impact on OpenAI's future.
