Facebook and Instagram have rolled out a novel system aimed at identifying minors. This system leverages AI technology to scrutinize visual attributes like height and skeletal structure in the photos and videos shared by users, with the objective of pinpointing and subsequently removing accounts belonging to children under 13 years old. Prior to this, Meta had already been utilizing AI to spot teenagers who falsely reported their ages, compelling them to switch to a teenage account mode and enforcing a range of protective measures.
