Google plans to invest up to $40 billion in artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, starting with an initial investment of $10 billion at a valuation of $350 billion, with the potential for an additional $30 billion later. Following the success of Claude Code, Anthropic is ramping up its fundraising efforts, and Google Cloud will provide computing power for the next five years. Earlier this week, Anthropic secured a new $5 billion funding round from Amazon, also at a valuation of $350 billion, with an option for an additional $20 billion. The company had already raised $30 billion in February this year, and since then, investors have been seeking to continue their support at a valuation of $800 billion or higher.
