Recently, the Linux kernel maintenance team released guidelines for using AI-generated code, allowing developers to use AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot. However, the submitter must take responsibility for bugs or security risks arising from code issues. This policy was introduced after months of discussion, amid escalating controversies over AI tools in the open-source community, with different open-source projects holding varying attitudes toward AI-generated code. The new rules also require developers to clearly indicate whether code is AI-generated to ensure code quality and security.
