On April 11, 2026, Anthropic officially launched the beta version of the Claude for Word plugin, further challenging Microsoft's software ecosystem. This plugin allows users to interact directly with Claude in the Word sidebar for document drafting, editing, and revision, while preserving the original formatting and presenting modifications in native 'Track Changes' format. Users can accept or reject editing suggestions one by one, ensuring absolute control over document content. Additionally, Claude for Word supports functions such as handling comment threads, summarizing key commercial terms, and flagging risky clauses, making it particularly suitable for scenarios like legal reviews and financial memo drafting. Currently, this feature is only available to users on the Team and Enterprise plans.
