Recently, a number of voice actors have come forward to denounce the unauthorized use of their voices through AI technology. Zhang Jiaming, renowned for lending his voice to the character 'Taiyi Zhenren' in the acclaimed 'Ne Zha' film series, found that his voice had been illicitly used since the latter part of last year. On one particular day, he identified over 700 instances of such infringement. The proliferation of AI-generated voices, readily available for free, has led to a significant decline in his commercial opportunities. Furthermore, the challenge of pursuing legal action against the majority of infringers, who are minors, has hindered his ability to safeguard his rights, resulting in unsuccessful lawsuits thus far.
Other voice actors, including Lv Yanting and Ji Guanlin, have also faced similar predicaments. The production company behind 'Qixiang Tianwai' has released a statement condemning AI voice infringement and has sought legal recourse. The Actors Committee of the China Radio and Television Social Organization Federation has also weighed in, underscoring the legal responsibilities associated with such infringements. The industry's unified stance against AI voice infringement is unmistakable.
