On April 10, information from three sources revealed that Anthropic, a frontrunner in the artificial intelligence sector, is contemplating the creation of its own AI chips to tackle the prevailing issue of a shortage in AI chip supplies. These chips are of paramount importance for the progression and enhancement of more advanced AI systems. At present, Anthropic's initiative is still in its nascent phase, and there's a possibility that the company might opt to keep buying chips instead of venturing into independent chip design down the line. Moreover, Anthropic hasn't yet outlined a definitive design approach or assembled a specialized project team. Presently, Anthropic utilizes a diverse range of chips, encompassing Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) and Amazon's chips, to develop and operate its AI model, Claude.
