On Thursday (local time), James Uthmeier, the Attorney General of Florida in the United States, revealed that his office intends to initiate an investigation into OpenAI. This move comes in response to ChatGPT's purported involvement in a deadly shooting incident that unfolded last year. In April 2025, a tragic shooting occurred at Florida State University, claiming the lives of two individuals and leaving five others injured. Just last week, an attorney representing one of the victims came forward, alleging that the perpetrator had employed ChatGPT as a tool to meticulously plan the attack. Consequently, the families of the victims have expressed their intention to take legal action against OpenAI.
