This remarkable upswing effectively reversed the downward trend that had persisted since 2016. During the period from 2016 to 2024, the cumulative number of new apps had seen a 48% decline. However, in 2025, there was a 30% year-on-year increase, and the growth rate further accelerated in 2026. This significant growth can be largely attributed to the widespread adoption of AI-assisted coding tools, often referred to as "vibe coding" in the tech community. These innovative tools have substantially lowered the barriers to app development, enabling a broader range of developers to bring their ideas to life.
