In the latest Windows 11 preview build 26300.8142, Microsoft has added two key features to the Task Manager: NPU usage tracking and application container isolation status display. For NPU monitoring, users can add two columns—"NPU Usage" and "NPU Engine"—to the Processes, Users, and Details pages in Task Manager. Processes can be sorted by NPU load, allowing real-time viewing of which applications are utilizing local AI hardware computing power. The Details page also provides columns for NPU dedicated memory and shared memory, showcasing how workloads utilize NPU resources. If the graphics card has a built-in neural network engine, relevant information will also be displayed on the Performance page. In terms of application security, the Task Manager now includes an "Isolation" column, indicating which applications are running in AppContainer sandbox mode to prevent malicious behavior from affecting other parts of the system.
