Based on a report from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman in the most recent issue of the Power On newsletter, Apple is making significant strides in refining its artificial intelligence approach. The tech giant is poised to introduce a new, independent Siri application with the release of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, complemented by an innovative 'Extensions' feature. Once users have installed applications such as Claude or Gemini, they will have the autonomy to select the third-party AI services that Siri will call upon within the 'Apple Intelligence and Siri' segment of the system settings. This same section will also furnish download links to pertinent AI chatbot applications available on the App Store. Moreover, Siri is set to embrace a dual-mode conversation capability, seamlessly integrating both text and voice interactions, presented through a chat interface reminiscent of iMessage bubbles. Users will have the ability to aggregate, search through, and preserve their previous conversations, while also receiving intelligent prompts to facilitate new dialogues. Additionally, the updated Siri will boast functionalities including web searches, content summarization, and document assessment.
