The promotion of digital RMB in Hong Kong has made leaping progress. Currently, the number of digital RMB wallets opened with Hong Kong mobile phone numbers has reached 80,000, and the number of local accepting merchants has increased from 300 to 5,200, marking a growth of over 16 times within a year and covering multiple consumption scenarios related to people's livelihoods. The central bank is discussing the upgrade plan and feasibility of digital RMB wallets with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, with specific arrangements and timelines yet to be determined. The pilot program supports all Hong Kong residents in opening and using digital RMB wallets, and several banks and well-known chain merchants already have the capability to accept them. Additionally, the cross-border service of 'Digital RMB Connect' has achieved interconnection with Hong Kong's 'Faster Payment System'. Its core consists of a cross-border digital payment platform and a blockchain service platform, providing strong support for the development of digital RMB in Hong Kong.
