On March 27, 2026, Google introduced the "Memory Import" feature for its Gemini platform. This innovative function empowers users to effortlessly transfer their personal preferences, contextual background details, and entire chat histories (in ZIP format, with a maximum size of 5GB) from alternative AI applications to Gemini. The migration process is straightforward; users can either copy prompts or upload chat history packages, thereby facilitating a smooth transition between different platforms. The previously known "Past Chats" feature has been rebranded as "Memory," with the data collected being utilized to enhance and optimize services. Users retain full control over their data, having the ability to manage or delete it at their discretion. Currently, this feature is being implemented on a global scale, with the exception of the EU, UK, and Switzerland.
