Openreach, the network operator under British Telecommunications, announced on Wednesday that it has expanded its collaboration with Google Cloud to leverage artificial intelligence technology to accelerate fiber broadband construction and reduce carbon emissions from one of the UK's largest commercial vehicle fleets. Openreach operates the UK's largest broadband network, with its fleet of 24,000 vans traveling nearly 200 million miles (approximately 322 million kilometers) annually. This collaboration will utilize Google's data tools under Alphabet to analyze fleet routes, idling, and failure patterns to optimize operational efficiency.
