The city of Baltimore in the United States has initiated legal proceedings against Elon Musk's enterprise, xAI, alleging that its AI chatbot, Grok, has unlawfully produced explicit pornographic images and content involving the sexual exploitation of minors without user consent. This action is said to contravene consumer protection statutes. Legal filings indicate that Grok has been responsible for generating a substantial volume of unsuitable content. The Mayor of Baltimore has criticized technology firms for aiding in the sexual exploitation of children, pointing to a self-portrait created by Grok and shared by Musk as illustrative proof. Presently, Grok is under regulatory scrutiny in several jurisdictions. Despite xAI having previously imposed limitations on its image-editing functionalities and Musk's assertion of being uninformed about the matter, the legal dispute persists without resolution. Baltimore is seeking monetary penalties and a court order mandating xAI to modify its design attributes; however, both SpaceX and xAI have not yet issued an official statement in response.
