Insiders familiar with Tencent's Hunyuan team have revealed that Xiao Xuefeng, the former leader of ByteDance's Seed visual AI platform team, along with Zhang Chi, a key member of the Infra team, have recently and discreetly joined Tencent. They will be overseeing tasks related to large-scale model infrastructure (Infra), directly reporting to Yao Shunyu, Tencent's Chief AI Scientist. At the close of 2025, Tencent made significant enhancements to its large-scale model R&D framework by establishing a dedicated AI Infra department, with Yao Shunyu appointed as its head. Upon joining Tencent, Xiao Xuefeng has taken on the role of assistant department head, aiding Yao Shunyu in managing the department's operations. Furthermore, Huang Qi, who leads the training Infra group within the department, is also an ex-member of ByteDance's Seed team.
