ByteDance announced that it has reached a definitive agreement with Savvy Games Group, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), to sell its Moonton Technology for a transaction price exceeding US$6 billion. Moonton Technology is the developer and publisher of the well-known Southeast Asian MOBA mobile game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), and was acquired by ByteDance in 2021. According to reports, ByteDance has made significant investments in the AI sector, and its overall profits declined in the fourth quarter of 2025. This sale of Moonton is seen as a move to further shift ByteDance's strategic focus towards AI.
