Demis Hassabis, the founder of Google's AI division DeepMind, revealed on social media that Jasjit Sekhon, the chief scientist and head of AI at Bridgewater Associates, will join DeepMind as its chief strategy officer. After stepping down, Sekhon will also join the board of directors at Bridgewater Associates. Over the past year, DeepMind has launched multiple AI products, including an upgraded chatbot, the AI model Gemini, and a new photo editor called Nano Banana. Sekhon has been with Bridgewater Associates since 2018, playing a key role in the establishment of its AI research and investment lab, AIA Labs. Prior to this, he taught at Harvard University, the University of California, Berkeley, and Yale University.
