In the quarterly financial report unveiled on the 11th day of this month, Oracle raised its restructuring expense budget for the entire fiscal year to a staggering $2.1 billion. This marks an extra $500 million allocation compared to the initial figure. By the end of February, around $982 million of this budget had already been spent, which strongly implies that there will be extensive layoffs in the current fiscal quarter. The $2.1 billion budget set for this year is significantly higher than those of previous years. Analysts are of the opinion that the scale of the upcoming layoffs will be even larger than the over 3,000 employees who were let go in August - September 2025. Oracle asserts that its AI 'Atmosphere Programming' tool can cut down on the number of developers required. Additionally, Bloomberg had previously reported that Oracle was planning to lay off thousands of employees.
