Recently, the open-source AI agent framework OpenClaw (known as "Longxia" or Lobster) has garnered significant attention online. However, monitoring efforts by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have uncovered that the software presents considerable security risks, particularly when operated under default or improperly configured settings. The Information and Data Management Office at Zhuhai College of Science and Technology has issued a directive banning faculty and staff from using this software on campus. It mandates that anyone who has installed OpenClaw must uninstall it entirely. Subsequent security scans and verifications will be carried out, and any violations will be addressed in accordance with established regulations. All departments are required to conduct self-inspections and implement necessary corrections. Those responsible for incidents arising from non-compliance will be held accountable.
Furthermore, Anhui Normal University and Jiangsu Normal University have also released notices or reminders, highlighting concerns such as privacy breaches, unchecked autonomous execution, and vulnerabilities in permission management associated with the software. They have urged faculty and students to approach its use with caution, pay attention to proper usage methods and the safety of downloading skill packages, and enhance their awareness of cybersecurity and personal information protection.
