On March 11, Elon Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to assert that no company embodies hypocrisy more than Anthropic. The controversy stemmed from a social media post by Holly Elmore, Executive Director of the U.S. civil society organization PauseAI US, who urged Anthropic employees to resign. Elmore alleged that Anthropic's AI tool, Claude, played a role in assisting the U.S. military to select targets for air strikes in Iran, with reports suggesting that a primary school, where over 100 girls lost their lives, may have been among those targets. Musk amplified Elmore's message, expressing skepticism and reiterating his previous accusations against Anthropic for allegedly engaging in "massive-scale theft" of training data.
