The Tencent WeChat team is covertly developing a high-priority AI Agent product. This project is spearheaded by WeChat's technical leader, Zhou Hao, who reports directly to Zhang Xiaolong. The product is anticipated to debut in the first half of 2025, with grayscale testing commencing in mid-2026 and a phased rollout planned for the third quarter. The core objective of this product is to facilitate cross-application task execution, transforming WeChat into an 'intelligent task hub.' From a technical standpoint, the team is exercising caution and is not solely dependent on the Hunyuan large model. Instead, they are concurrently evaluating external large models and self-developed small models. This initiative signifies a pivotal strategic move by Tencent in the AI application arena, ushering in a new era of 'execution and collaboration' in the competitive landscape of large models. Should the team successfully surmount technical hurdles, the product stands to emerge as the most extensively adopted AI intelligent assistant platform in China.
