Recently, Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, an American artificial intelligence company, articulated in an internal memorandum that, concerning potential collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense, the company will maintain a stance consistent with that of its competitor, Anthropic. Specifically, it will decline to employ its proprietary AI technology for extensive surveillance operations or the development of fully autonomous lethal weapon systems. Previously, Anthropic encountered the prospect of forfeiting government contracts due to its refusal to comply with the Pentagon's demand for unrestricted utilization of its AI models.
