ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 model has recently found itself at the center of yet another copyright infringement dispute. Paramount Pictures has served ByteDance with a cease and desist notice. Gabriel Miller, the Intellectual Property Director at Paramount, highlighted that the content produced by the Seed platform features images of well-known Paramount characters and series. These images bear a striking resemblance to Paramount's copyrighted characters and storylines, to the point of being nearly indistinguishable. He emphasized that the copyrights of series like SpongeBob SquarePants have been "consistently violated." Miller also pointed out that the scale of infringement by Seedance 2.0 is on the rise and urged ByteDance to promptly halt all infringing activities and remove all associated content. Prior to this, The Walt Disney Company had also sent a letter to ByteDance, accusing it of utilizing its works without authorization. In response, Li Liang, Vice President of Douyin Group, affirmed that the team is consistently refining and reinforcing its anti-infringement measures.
