On February 4th, reports surfaced that the 16th plenary session of the China Artificial Intelligence Industry Development Alliance was successfully held in Shijingshan District, Beijing, on February 3rd, 2026. Gan Xiaobin, Deputy Director-General of the Science and Technology Department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, highlighted the Ministry's proactive response to the directives of the Party Central Committee. Emphasizing the manufacturing sector as the cornerstone for AI applications, he underscored the importance of fostering deep integration between 'AI and manufacturing.' Looking ahead, the Ministry has outlined four strategic priorities: first, bolstering foundational AI applications by surmounting challenges in core technologies, including computing power chips and industrial-scale models; second, refining the application ecosystem through enhanced standardization and the cultivation of an open-source culture; third, broadening international collaboration via multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, BRICS, and ASEAN to fortify industrial exchanges; fourth, reinforcing application governance by innovating security tools and encouraging industry self-regulation. Concurrently, there is an expectation that the Alliance will continue to leverage its influence to cultivate a more robust and competitive industrial ecosystem.
