On February 4th, WeChat's PR Director, affectionately known as 'WeChat Auntie Zhou,' addressed the issue of Tencent Yuanbao's red packet sharing links being blocked on WeChat. She emphasized that user experience is WeChat's top priority and that all users and services are treated fairly and equally. Accompanying her statement was the humorous meme, 'When I go crazy, I even hit myself,' adding a touch of levity to the situation.
The WeChat Security Center clarified that Yuanbao's Spring Festival marketing activities encouraged users to frequently share links in WeChat groups and other settings, which disrupted the platform's ecological balance and negatively impacted the user experience. Consequently, WeChat has imposed restrictions on directly opening these links that violate its policies within the app.
In response, Yuanbao's official statement acknowledged the issue and mentioned that they are urgently optimizing and adjusting their sharing mechanism. They assured users that the revised mechanism will be rolled out as soon as possible to ensure a smoother and more compliant user experience.
