On January 19, 2026, StepFun made an official announcement regarding the launch of the Windows iteration of its computer-based Agent product, named "StepFun AI Desktop Companion" (affectionately dubbed "Xiaoyue"). The Mac version of this product had already made its debut back in September of the previous year. This Mac version boasted the ability to handle intricate tasks both locally on the computer and in the cloud realm. Its capabilities included intelligent retrieval and processing of local files, as well as the execution of scheduled tasks, among other features.

This latest upgrade for the Windows version brings with it three remarkable new capabilities: the ability to invoke third-party MCP tools, the implementation of global memory, and automatic synchronization with the currently active application. All these enhancements come at no additional cost to the users.

Through the MCP interface, users gain access to 16 commonly utilized desktop tools. Moreover, they have the flexibility to incorporate more tools on their own, thereby broadening the spectrum of task scenarios that can be tackled. The Mac version had already rolled out the "global memory" feature. This innovative function is capable of recording, comprehending, and retracing user operations. It can generate summary reports and supports natural language search, enabling users to extract memory content with a single click. To safeguard data security, all relevant information is stored on the user's local device.
