On January 16, 2026, the 6th China-ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting was held in Hanoi, Vietnam. The meeting adopted the 2026 China-ASEAN Digital Cooperation Plan, which specified the establishment of the China-ASEAN Digital College and the China-ASEAN AI Industry Innovation Center within the year, and outlined plans for exchanges and cooperation in areas such as digital and information and communication infrastructure, open-source technologies, and digital security. The meeting also approved the China-ASEAN Action Plan for Cooperation on Building a Sustainable and Inclusive Digital Ecosystem (2026-2030), which outlined enhanced cooperation over the next five years in policy exchanges and strategic alignment, digital infrastructure development, and innovative applications of emerging digital technologies.
