On January 13, Elon Musk took to the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) to voice his vehement disapproval of the partnership forged between Apple and Google. The previous day, January 12, Google unveiled a multi-year cooperation pact with Apple. Under this agreement, Google will furnish foundational support for Apple's Siri voice assistant and its associated foundational models, leveraging its cutting-edge Gemini technology.

Musk contends that this alliance will pave the way for an "unreasonable concentration of power" for Google within the AI landscape. It's worth noting that Musk wasted no time in publicly registering his disapproval, doing so just a few short hours after Google made the collaboration announcement.

Moreover, Musk's own venture, xAI, has initiated legal proceedings against both Apple and OpenAI. In the lawsuit, xAI alleges that Apple is stifling fair competition by entering into exclusive partnerships that effectively shut out competitors. The legal case is currently under ongoing review.

As for Musk's critique, industry experts have put forth two potential interpretations. One is that Musk is attempting to generate public opinion momentum in favor of xAI launching its own branded smartphone. The other is that he is laying the groundwork for a new round of legal action aimed at thwarting the Apple-Google deal.
