On December 31, 2025, Moonshot AI (commonly known as Kimi) made a significant announcement, declaring the successful closure of a Series C funding round that raised $500 million. This funding initiative was spearheaded by IDG Capital, and it witnessed an overwhelming response from existing investors, notably Alibaba, Tencent, and Wang Huiwen, who participated beyond their initial commitments. Following this investment, the company's valuation soared to $4.3 billion (equivalent to approximately RMB 30 billion).

Yang Zhilin, the founder of Moonshot AI, disclosed that the company's current cash reserves have surpassed RMB 10 billion. These funds are earmarked for several key initiatives: expediting the development of the K3 model, scaling up GPU computing capacity, and rolling out an incentive plan set for 2026. Moonshot AI further clarified its stance on going public, stating that it has no immediate intentions to pursue an IPO. Instead, the company is focused on its long-term vision of becoming a globally recognized leader in the field of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
