On December 26, 2025, SoftBank Group finalized an extra investment of $22.5 billion in OpenAI. By this move, it had fully honored its investment pledge of around $40 billion, which it had made back in March. With this latest injection, the cumulative investment in OpenAI by SoftBank Group has reached $41 billion, in exchange for an approximate 11% ownership stake. This financial boost comprises the initial $7.5 billion invested in April of this year, the subsequent additional investment of $22.5 billion, and an $11 billion joint investment that was coordinated with other investors. Thanks to this influx of funds, OpenAI's post-money valuation has soared to roughly $300 billion. Moreover, a secondary market stock sale conducted in October this year had already propelled its valuation to approximately $500 billion.
