NVIDIA is currently immersed in advanced-stage negotiations to acquire Israeli artificial intelligence (AI) startup AI21 Labs, with the deal potentially reaching a staggering $3 billion. During a 2023 funding round that saw participation from both NVIDIA and Google, AI21 Labs was appraised at a valuation of $1.4 billion.
Established in 2017 by Mobileye's co-founder and CEO, Amnon Shashua, along with other visionaries, AI21 Labs has been actively exploring a sale for some time. Over recent weeks, the startup has made substantial headway in its acquisition discussions with NVIDIA.
NVIDIA's primary interest lies in AI21 Labs' talented workforce, which comprises roughly 200 seasoned professionals. Consequently, the anticipated transaction amount is projected to fall within the $2 billion to $3 billion range.
